The Graeme Watkins Project

The Graeme Watkins Project is a proudly South African band that formed more or less a year ago. Despite Grame being a runner up in season 5 of South African Idol, he's proved to be the only participant that kept his promise; to return to the music scene as a fully-fledged musician.

The key element to overcoming the 'Idol's curse' is that he's managed to cleverly nail the right genre in SA, landing his band smack band in the centre of the SA scene. In the band, Ryno Zeelie plays lead guitar, Rudo Pieterse plays bass, Matthew Marinus plays the drums and Graeme does vocals.

Their sound can be described as a mix of dirty, edgy, indie, rock and electronic with a rough approach to pop. Graeme's motto is: “A Masterpiece is a stroke of genius in a moment of madness… So live life like a madman". This band is definitely bringing something new to the scene so they're worth checking out. They're also not too bad on the eye either...
